The objective of the Borough Chapel over the last few months has been to complete the refurbishment of the Lower Hall in time for our Carol Service and Christmas Lunch, which was held on Sunday 6th December. We achieved that and welcomed 65 people to join us in the Service, which included 9 children. Several visitors had joined us from our details on the website (www.welshchapel.com)
Sixty people were seated and waited on for the 5 course Christmas Lunch, including our local MP, the Rt. Hon. Simon Hughes, MP. We donated the collection of £200 to Ty Hafan and Ty Gobaith.
Children of the 50s.
Olwen, the daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Ivor and Mrs Esme Edwards, and Bob Stuart were with us for the Carol Service, with 2 of their children and one of the grandchildren, Harry. Their daughter, Catherine, was unable to attend, as she was organising the Nativity Play at her Church; she now has two children. Huw and Tess Edwards were also with us along with Bethan and Ron Lambe, Nigel Davies, David Evans and his 2 children. Ann and Bryn Williams, Elizabeth Licence (nee Evans, Ealing) come into a slightly older age group. It was just like old times; a lot of 'photos were passed around, one of a Sunday School trip in the 50s.
We send our congratulations to Howel and Lynwen on becoming grandparents for the first time. Holly, the daughter of Gareth and Hailey, was born on Friday 13 November. Also congratulations to their daughter, Bethan, on her promotion to Senior Nursing Sister.
We thank all the Ministers who have taken our services during 2009, especially Eiri Jones, who had given us strength and encouragement to keep the Chapel going through difficult times.
We look forward to a prosperous New Year and years ahead.
